Terms of use for the online tools

These terms apply to all calculators and templates that Metallbau mitSteel provides free of charge on this website, including the PDF files, drawings and tables generated with them. By using a tool you accept these terms. The German version is the authoritative one; German law applies.

1. What the tools are

The tools are non-binding calculation aids. They are meant to make work in the workshop easier and to give a first orientation. They are offered free of charge and without registration. Using a tool does not create a contract for advice, design or any other service.

2. What the tools are not

  • They do not replace the design of the individual component.
  • They do not replace structural analysis or proof of stability by a structural engineer.
  • They do not replace checks against the standards, codes, building regulations and safety rules that apply where you work.
  • They do not replace manufacturer data for pipe, fittings and fasteners or the judgement of a qualified person.

3. Errors are possible

We build and test the tools with care. Even so, we cannot guarantee that the results are correct, complete, up to date or suitable for your purpose. Errors can arise from wrong input or units, from mistakes in formulas or in the program, from simplifications (nominal instead of measured dimensions, tolerances, weld gaps, kerf), from rounding, from printing at the wrong scale, and from your browser, device or printer.

4. What you must do

  • Check every result before you use it and recalculate important dimensions.
  • Measure the workpiece before you cut, drill or weld. If in doubt, make a test piece.
  • Check the scale of printed templates against the control ruler on the sheet.
  • Have load-bearing and safety-relevant components designed and, where required, verified by a qualified person.
  • Do not use results you cannot assess yourself.

The decision to use a result and the responsibility for the component made with it are yours.

5. Liability

The tools are provided free of charge and without any warranty as to the correctness, completeness or currency of the results. We are liable for damage arising from the use of the tools only in cases of intent and gross negligence. We are not liable for slight negligence – in particular not for lost material, miscuts, rework, delays, lost profit or other consequential damage.

This does not affect liability for injury to life, body or health, liability under the German Product Liability Act, or liability for defects that were fraudulently concealed.

6. Availability and changes

There is no entitlement to the tools being available at all times, free of errors or permanently. We may change, restrict or remove tools at any time.

7. Copyright

The tools, their programs, texts and graphics are protected by copyright. You may use the results – templates, lists and plans – for your own private and business purposes. Copying or rebuilding the tools themselves, embedding them in other offers or presenting them as your own service is not permitted.

8. Privacy

All calculations run in your browser. Your input is not transmitted to us and not stored.
